Why should you take this course:

  • Anyone who wants to learn about some simple and effective ways of making mechanical trail repairs.

  • If you have never looked at the workings of your vehicle and want to learn how it works.

Overview:

How many times have you been out in the wilderness and something has happened to your vehicle? How many times have you thought about what you would do if you had a mechanical issue with your vehicle?

Well, Overlanding BC and Rovalution have partnered to offer two unique and exciting courses that may help you learn some critical skills or knowledge that may help you one day in the wilderness.

It does not matter what type of vehicle you have, be it old, new or model / brand. This course is open to everyone.

Rovalution is a highly experienced and professional automotive shop that specializes in four wheel drive vehicles. The company is run by fully certified master Red Seal Automotive technicians who are very very good at what they do. Their owner is a highly active and experienced off roader himself and it is his decades of experience that will be shared with you in this uniques partnership.

This partnership allows us to use the experience and skills of the Rovalution team and their commercial grade work shop for a perfect learning experience.

Some of the concepts covered

We have put together a set of common topics that can be covered during these courses. It is important to note that the course will be tailored to the groups experience and time available:

Intermediate / Advanced Level:

  • U Joint’s - axle & drive shaft options.

  • CV Joints - possible repairs.

  • Battery welding - the art of the trail fix.

  • Electrical diagnostics - when things don’t want to work.

  • Steering - how to get off a trail.

  • Fuel - priming, fixing fuel lines, change filters etc.

  • Driveshafts - disconnecting or repairing.

  • Brakes - simple fixes.

  • Differentials - Options.

Beginner Level:

  • Engine 101 - how does it work?

  • Changing tires / jacking points - doing things safely.

  • Belts & Filters - how to fix or replace them.

  • Fluids - What goes where and what do they do?

  • Basic electrics - How does my electrical system work?

  • 4wd systems - what do the levers and buttons actually do?
